The bank account of the SFSS has been frozen. I am not entirely sure who is responsible for this. All I know is that if said bank account does not become unfrozen very soon, the SFSS will likely be forced to (temporarily) shut down....

Considering that the G7 just hired on Angela Regnier, the CFS National Vice-Chair, it is probably a good thing they cannot spend much more money.
Perhaps, however, all parties can agree to honour payroll costs (wages and revenue canada bills) for staff and standard operational expenses, such as invoices from suppliers. Paying staff is first priority, and revenue canada bills come with HUGE fines if not paid by the 15th of the following month.
If the account is frozen by the bank, it is likely initiated by one side of the dispute, and all parties could approach the bank and get those things covered while the dispute is settled.
I think it wise to freeze all other costs, including legal fees, until the dispute is settled.
What was Angela Regnier hired to do?
This is unconfirmed, but i've heard that payroll for this coming friday has been processed already, so the freezing would not affect that. This means it's approximately 3 more weeks until another staff payroll has to happen, which should give some time for things to settle. I don't know how long any court action will take, though.
On the CSSS forum, someone has posted a copy of an email from impeached ex-ERO Margo Dunnet (linked here ) where she claims that SDU is responsible for the bank freeze, but the SDU members i've asked have said that SDU has nothing to do with it, and the REAL board members i talked to said that they were the ones who had initiated it.
ok, scratch what i said about REAL board members...it seems that there's more uncertainty around this than i made out in my first comment. Individuals in SDU still deny being involved in the freeze, though.
Would Reigner have to resign a position at CFS national to take this job--or is she collectin two full time pay cheques? Or is she only on honourarium at national?
Re Dunnet's letter, it only says "due to the actions of the SDU"--which could refer to the SGM itself, not any further actions by them regarding the bank account.
how is the SDU (a student group) supposed to be able to freeze SFSS accounts? I thought only members (or people who still have signing authority) can freeze accounts?
She has been hired Research and Policy Coordinator.
Expect her to make sure that nothing goes against the party (CFS) line.
How can it be an emergency to have a research and policy coordinator?
Does emergency hire mean not advertised as by the collective agreement rules?
The word that I have heard is that it was not properly posted. I cannot confirm this and do not know SFSS hiring policies. As such, I am not sure how this works. I have been told by numerous sources that the hiring is most likely going to results in grievances, based on this it is likely that it was not properly done.
SDU does not have any power to freeze the SFSS's account, although many of us in the SDU understand that this is a necessary step to assure that the ex-directors do not use Society funds to pay off lawyers hired for their personal defense. (I expect the G7 will end up paying for their lawyers out of their own bank accounts.) Moreover, I do believe that the freeze on the account was initiated by one or more legitimate members of the SFSS Board.
Angela Regnier is to replace Hattie.
However, the meeting at which she was hired was inquorate, given that Shawn Hunsdale was not a student and thus not a director at the time.
Er, typo. Thinking too slow in DST switch over. She's to replace Brandy, not Hattie.
Angela was not hired to replace Hattie.
She was hired to replace a person currently on leave.
The hiring committee did not agree to hire her.
The G7 unilaterally decided to hire her. It was not an emergency hire.
regnier was hired to replace brandy zimmerman who is on leave til mid april 07. she will have much to do with undergrad health plan research and referendum, and with byelections and the march general elections. from what i hear, the democratic process enshrined in the collective agreement re: voting for a candidate by all hiring committee members, was set aside by the employer, citing managaement rights, and OK'd by the Board to go with regnier as the management choice.
So the CFS is rigging this referedum in advance as well. What a surprise. I wonder where all this health plan money will disappear?
Maybe the SFSS is looking at purchasing a building in New Westminster...
just to make it clear, the freezing of the bank accounts is not the work of sdu.

Heya
I will tell you that many of the posts that you have read are mostly accurate. The sfss G7 has been less than truthful with the emails and the communications it has been sending. They know what they have done, they just do not want to admit it. "I cannot be a director anymore so I will take my SFSS and go home". They have contradicted themselves several times in recent posts, including the fallacious argument to blmae SDU for freezing the bank accounts. They do not know when to quit. Like the SGM did not give them the heads up ( ah can you say loser). Sorry all this is just a rant because of the losers I work for. They froze my paycheck, assholes. They have not done a hard days work in their life and do not deserve the ability to fuck with people who have been forced into executing thier half-baked ideas into money losing reality. Wow, I quess I am bitter. Yeah, well tell it to my landlord. The G7 has to go. Every one but them knows that they are done, we must aid them in popping their balloon fantasy of reality that their little world seems to orbit around. Lets get back to the business of serving students, the ones that are acually registered.
