For the purposes of full disclosure...
As of tomorrow, I will officially be working for the Kwantlen Student Association, an organization that I have reported on quite a fair bit on this blog to date. My employer has no problem with my continued publication of this blog. However, for the record: all content published here is my own, and may not necessarily reflect the position of my employer.

Congratulations on the new job, Titus. I'm sure you'll do great.
Wow, the same people running the place as 2002! How are some of these execs still students???
Titus,
You are working there as an staff, or was elected as an executive?
Actually only 4 elected officials on the new board of directors previously held elected positions in the KSA - Steve Lee, Mat Huff, Laura Anderson and Johnny Woo. And technically, the KSA launched legal action against these and other students - and they essentially fired back against them to get where things are today.
So it's not "the same people running the place as 2002!" ... on a board of about 20+ voting positions, 4 is a small minority.
Also, Kwantlen does offer full four year degrees and post diplomas and many students study part time while working elsewhere - while still being involved in the KSA.
Titus is a recently hired staff person of the KSA. He was not elected, nor has he ever sought any elected position in the KSA.
Congratulations, Titus. In the interests of full disclosure, might we also find out your job title at KSA?
Adding to what another poster posted:
Steve Lee was a staff person from fall 2001 - 2003. He was then elected to Richmond Campus Council as the Richmond Campus Director in 2004 and held it into 2005 during the RAF era. So he was only elected twice to the KSA. He was removed by RAF in 2005 for speaking out against them.
Laura Anderson has served in a number of elected positions since either fall 2001 or spring 2002, from Surrey Campus Council Director to External Affairs director. She was removed by RAF in 2005 for speaking out against them.
Mat Huff served as Director of Operations, having been elected in 2005 with RAF. He was then removed by RAF in 2005 for speaking out against them.
Johnny Woo served as a volunteer with the KSA from 2001 until 2004 when he finally decided to run for Richmond Campus Representative, a position he was elected to again in 2005. He also spoke out against RAF but was not removed by them.
Mohammad Kallas used to be Speaker of Council (an appointed staff position) and held that position from late 2003 until 2005. In 2006 RAF constructively dismissed him by not telling him when meeting were happening and changing his position in the RAF bylaws and regulations. He then decided to run with Concerned Students in fall 2006.
So the poster is correct - only 4 elected officials on the new board of directors previously held elected positions in the KSA, and another formerly held an appointed staff position.
Staff wise, the KSA has not hired many people from the old "2002" era... only two: Desmond Rodenbour, who has served in a number of capacities since 2000 - has been hired as General Manager. And the former Financial Administrator, Rolando Navarro is also back. The new KSA board of directors also did not fire everyone upon taking office - only those who were involved in questionable activities (which are now the subject of the forensic audit and other investigations) were let go. Many other staff including the computer guy, and a number of cafe staff remain from the RAF era. There were a few others who could have stayed, but ultimately chose to leave.
So the comment "Wow, the same people running the place as 2002! How are some of these execs still students???" is rather silly. Kudos to these individuals who have fought a hard battle to help clean up the KSA and protect it for the students it serves.
