CFS General Meeting Documents
I have scanned and uploaded [PDF] the documents of the CFS Generals Meetings since the fall of 1990, for your viewing pleasure.
The documents include minutes, agendas, National Executive reports, committee agendas, committee reports, financial documents, and other interesting documents which I have obtained.

Amazing work Titus!
In response to some who may say this kind of information should not be public, I encourage them to seek out and read The Naked Corporation by Don Tapscott and David Ticoll. I firmly believe that the principles in this book can easily be applied to non-profit organizations.
Specifically, this page on Tapscot and Ticoll's site outlines the essence of their argument. I further point out this quote, which states: Transparency brings a power shift to employees; and employees of an open enterprise have greater trust in one another and their employer and in this case, we can substitute "employee" with "student" and "employer" with an organization such as the CFS.
This past weekend, at the 51st Semi-Annual CFS General Meeting, the CFS did pass motions to allow the bylaws, policies and standing resolutions to be placed on the official CFS website, but they removed part of the resolution which would have put general meeting documents online. It's a small step as a few years ago the CFS rejected the same motion which would have placed the items online before now.
As part of my work to develop a marketing plan for the Kwantlen Student Association, I plan on taking my examination of other student union websites a step further by examining what kinds of documents are posted on various sites and compiling an information chart of that information. I'd also like to see what other organizations place online (in terms of agendas, minutes and general meeting documents).
Again, I congratulate Titus for taking this step forward. I hope other individuals or organizations who think what Titus has done as being wrong will closely examine how the world of information is changing - and I strongly encourage everyone to take a look at The Naked Corporation, as well as Tapscott's new book called Wikinomics. Tapscott is really at the forefront of these kinds of issues.

PS. I found this site by accident just now - OutTrent, a great example of forced transparency.

"...hey removed part of the resolution which would have put general meeting documents online."
Could you elaborate--does this mean the audit, the executive report, the sub committee minutes?
I believe so, but don't have my CFS AGM binder with me at this exact moment to double check.
Now to be clear, the resolutions considered were regarding the placement of these documents on the official CFS website.
The original motion, which was submitted by the Students' Society of McGill University, read: "Be it resolved that all existing policies, bylaws, and general meeting minutes be made publicly available on the Federation website."
The Organizational and Services Development Committee (OSD) recommended that the motion be amended by removing "general meeting minutes." That amendment carried.
The Kwantlen Student Association (KSA) then moved an amendment, to add "standing resolutions" to the motion. That amendment carried. The main motion then passed.
Thus, the Federation is now required to post its bylaws, standing resolutions, and policies on its website, but not any other documents.
Great work Titus! Thanks!
Um... yeah, they may be required to post their by-laws, but they don't. At least, I never found it on their provincial OR national websites.
The provincial website has been newly updated too, so they can't say they haven't had the time. The "palms" campaign is all up and running...
Correct me if I've missed the link.
